Designed for the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service, this 62,000 square foot facility was the first to be constructed in the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Research Park, now called the University Commons. The building incorporated 16,000 square feet of highly technical biological research laboratories with fresh, brackish and full saline water systems for aquatic experimentation.
In addition to the laboratory areas, a computer wing includes G.I.S. mapping systems and satellite imagery analysis areas for tracking changes in wetland areas across the country.
